HotLok blanking panels provide an effective seal in unused rack space that is 29% better than that of their nearest competitor. The state-of-the-art design of the HotLok blanking panels controls airflow for optimised cooling effectiveness. HotLok blanking panels are available in black, white or RAL7035 with some HotLoks also incorporating the Upsite Temperature Strip.
Improving rack airflow plays an important role in data centre airflow management. By preventing hot server exhaust air from circulating back to the front of the rack and mixing with the cold air cooling the servers can efficiently improve their cooling and make energy cost savings. One important part of improving rack airflow mangement is the use of blanking panels. RackSEAL is a rack air barrier designed to seal the gaps between cabinet sides and mounting rails, between adjoining racks or between rack bases and the floor when the racks are on castors. RackSEAL rack air barrier is a compressed foam tape that is quick and easy to install, thanks to an adhesive acrylic scrim. RackSEAL is available in two compressed widths.

Cold Aisle Containment is a popular way of cooling high density server installations. Cold Aisle Containment works by enclosing the entire cool aisle so containing the cold air and preventing it from mixing. EDP offers it's own retro-fit cold aisle containment system that can be fitted to existing rows of cabinets. Because it is a retro-fit solution it can also be used for hot aisle containment. EDP Europe also offer Rittal's cold aisle containment solution.
Hot Aisle Containment is an alternative to Cold Aisle Containment, but with the hot aisle being contained instead. With Hot Aisle Containment the hot air is directed back to the cooling system, usually via a ceiling plenum. With both aisle containment systems, by preventing hot and cold air from mixing significant energy efficiency improvements can be made.
