Airflow Management

Airflow management is one of the biggest areas that data centre managers can make the biggest energy savings. Many data centres are over cooled, mainly due to poor airflow management. There are a number of simple improvements that can be made that will improve airflow management within the data centre, from sealing cable openings and blanking unused rack space to improving the air delivery through floor grilles and balancing intake and exhaust airflow. KoldLok Floor Grommets

KoldLok® Raised Floor Grommets are distributed in EMEA by EDP Europe. Sealing cable openings with KoldLok® Grommets reduces bypass airflow, and improves the energy efficiency of the Data Centre's cooling system.

Blanking Panels & Rack Airflow

Improving rack airflow plays an important role in data centre airflow management. By preventing hot server exhaust air from circulating back to the front of the rack and mixing with the cold air cooling the servers can efficiently improve their cooling and make energy cost savings. One important part of improving rack airflow mangement is the use of blanking panels. EDP Europe offer the leading blanking panel solutions in HotLok® 1U and 2U blanking panels, and PlenaFill® 27U blanking panel sheets. EDP also offers other products that prevent hot air recirculating between the rails and side of racks and underneath the rack.

Raised Floor Tiles

EDP Europe are distributors of Triad Floor Grilles. The Triad Floor Grille is specially designed to provide positive airflow across the entire tile, the result is better stratification and dispersion of air from the floor grille. EDP also offers raised floor tiles with brush strip grommets pre-installed to replace normal raised floor tiles. This allows cable access while sealing the cable opening.

PlenaForm Air Baffle System

PlenaForm® under floor air baffle, fits under raised data centre floors and directs the cold air to where it is required. Using PlenaForm® allows the under floor area to be segmented improving cooling capacity. The use of PlenaForm® air baffles is another way of improving data centre cooling.
