Blanking Panels play an important role in improving the airflow management within the Data Centre.

It is a known fact that air-intake temperatures play a significant part in the reliability of IT equipment, with raised intake temperatures leading to equipment failure and expensive downtime. A major cause for this rise in temperature is hot exhaust air recirculating from the back of the server rack, and finding its way to the intakes at the front through open, unused rack space.

Using Blanking Panels, prevents this recirculation of hot exhaust air, helping to prolong server life.

EDP offer two blanking panel solutions:

HotLok Blanking Panels

PlenaFill Blanking Panels

HotLok blanking panels are available in 1U or 2U formats, and with or without the KoldLok Temperature Indicator Strip built-in. HotLok blanking panels feature a unique cantilevered sealing vane which elminates the gap between blanking panels and is touch-tight to the installed equipment and other HotLok Blanking Panels. They also feature finger guards which allows the blanking panels to be easily installed and removed.

PlenaFill blanking panels are supplied in a 27U sheet, with blanking panels scored at 1U intervals. This allows large areas of unused rack space to be blanked off quickly. Simply break off the required number of blanking panels and fix using the specially designed rivets.
