stableAir Aisle Containment System Added to Product Range

EDP Europe are pleased to announce the addition of stableAir, an aisle containment system that can be used for either hot or cold aisle containment.

stableAir aisle containment system is a non-intrusive, bespoke retrofit to Data Centres, whereby the hot or cold aisle is contained to maximise cooling efficiency. By preventing recirculation of air back to the CRAC units it significantly improves the efficiency of your building's cooling system and helps reduce your carbon footprint.

Aisle containment systems, in the past, have had a number of issues relating to safety and fire suppression. stableAir has been designed to work in conjunction with fire detection and suppression systems via two drop-down roof panel options: Fusible Link and Water Soluble.

With most other aisle containment systems it is necessary to extend existing water-based fire suppression systems through the roof panels and into the aisle in order for them to be effective. This creates additional work, cost and disruption within the Data Centre environment. With stableAir these extra works and costs are avoided. In the event of a fire, stableAir’s Fusible Link roof panels are designed to fall away at 58°C to allow the fire suppression system to be effective (fire suppression systems usually become effective at 70°C). Alternatively, Water Soluble roof panels, if used, simply dissolve when the water sprinklers become activated.

If Gas fire suppression systems are used, these are normally deployed through the floor tiles. stableAir can be fitted with Gas roof panels that provide an air tight seal to contain the gas and extinguish the fire.

All roof panels can be quickly and easily removed, by one person, to allow full access to the room’s facilities above the cabinets.

Air Containment Systems are recognised as a simple, yet highly effective means of reducing the power requirements needed to cool the Data Centre. Having your Data Centre at the correct temperature results in fewer equipment failures and so improves business continuity. Air Containment Systems also reduce the Data Centre’s PUE rating and carbon footprint, and can result in savings of up to 20% in cooling power costs.
