Environmental Monitoring is fast becoming the most important issue in the data centre with temperature and humidity being the most critical conditions to monitor. Whilst temperature monitoring is given moderate attention, monitoring the relative humidity can often be overlooked. Whilst a site works to decrease temperature, they may inadvertently decrease humidity below recommended levels. Humidity has the potential to create condensation leading to corrosion and the possibility of electrical failures, or if the relative humidity is too low, static discharges that can cause serious problems. With this in mind Geist have developed the RSMICRO Micro Environmental Monitor which monitors both temperature and humidity. The Geist Micro environmental monitor is a small module that features PoE (Power over Ethernet) and is ideal if you are having trouble accessing power but need to monitor temperature and humidity. The Micro environmental monitor can be placed discreetly and be up and running in minutes, with only a single ethernet connection for access. The internal temperature and humidity sensor means that there are no external sensors to position.
