Protect your important cables in armoured conduit

EDP Europe now offer an armoured conduit solution that protects cables in hazardous environments.

With it sometimes being a necessity to run power or data cables in harsh environments, the protection of these cables is vital if operation stability and uptime is to be maintained. In such environments, the use of armoured cables is one option. Alternatively, standard copper or fibre optic data cables can be used, and protected by an external steel or aluminium armoured conduit sleeve.

EDP Europe’s MWS Armourlite armoured conduit provides a pre-installed cabling solution that protects the installed cables. MWS Armourlite is available in three versions and four different sizes. These sizes are based on the plain aluminium version where the outer dimensions are 16.5mm, 25mm, 32mm and 40mm diameters. The base aluminium version is flexible and provides a significant level of shielding to copper data cables housed within it, especially important when these cables are run in close proximity to power cables. The flexibility of the conduit also helps protect the bend radius of fibre optic cables which can easily be broken.

For internal applications where a low fire hazard requirement exists, there is a LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) version. A flame retardant outer jacket is applied to the base aluminium conduit and offers LSZH performance characteristics as well as the protection provided to the installed cables by the aluminium sleeve.

A HDPE (High-density polyethylene) version is also available that is resilient to petrochemical environments, and to liquid ingress making it an ideal conduit to use in external direct burial applications, potentially removing the need for external ducts.

Both versions with over jackets comply to ISO/TR7472, ISO/TR7474 and IP68.
