With many fibre optic network bids and Requests For Quote (RFQ) citing cable standards to specific guidelines, it is important for the network installer to ensure the network installation adheres to these requirements. The FiberOWL 4 Bolt Quad is a fibre light source & power meter that is supplied as a test kit that contains all the tools necessary to certify fibre optic links against popular cabling standards laid out for both Multi Mode and Single Mode fibre optic networks.
The FiberOWL 4 Bolt is an optical power meter that is Multi Mode and Single Mode ready and capable of certifying fibre links at 850nm, 1300nm, 1310nm and 1550nm wavelengths. It features a user-friendly Fibre Link Wizard that performs link budget calculation including integrated fibre link length testing, and sets a reference value using the characteristics of the link. The reference is the PASS / FAIL threshold and is calculated against the chosen standard. Up to 1000 fibre runs may be stored and then downloaded to a PC for report generation using the OWL Reporter software. It also features intelligent automated testing functions, such as automatic dual-wavelength storage and auto-wavelength recognition, which help reduce testing time and human error.
The second part of the test kit is the OWL WaveSource Quad a fibre optic light source that contains all four popular industry-standard wavelengths for testing and certification of Multi Mode (850nm & 1300nm) and Single Mode (1310nm & 1550nm) networks. Its quad wavelength outputs are all temperature stabilised for accurate measurements. The OWL WaveSource Quad has a built-in auto-wavelength switching protocol designed to synchronise the wavelength of the FiberOWL 4 BOLT fibre optic cable tester. There are three connector options available ST, SC and FC.
