The full report, titled “Plenum-Leakage Bypass Airflow in Raised-Floor Data Centers” documents scientific test findings for five leading brush grommet brands. The KoldLok Integral was found not only to be the best sealing with the lowest level of air leakage of the grommets tested, but could offer comprehensive operational cost savings that equated to nearly 50% more than its closest competitor in the test.
The calculations based on the testing showed that a 1MW Data Centre using KoldLok floor grommets could realise a greater 10 year savings than the other brush grommets tested. Based on the findings, the KoldLok Integral grommet enables a 10 year savings of approximately $960,000 – 48% more than the nearest competitor, CoolBalance, and 75% more than Air-Guard.
With the high energy cost associated with air leakage in raised floor Data Centres, finding an effective solution that reduces bypass airflow, recovers stranded cooling capacity and helps enable significant cost savings can be achieved with KoldLok grommets.
Speaking of the findings Peter Crook, President of Upsite Technologies said “The reduction of bypass airflow is still an important issue with data centre operators. It is gratifying to see the energy and operational savings of the original Upsite KoldLok grommet highlighted in the report.”
The KoldLok Integral raised floor grommet features a double layer of brush filaments and is designed to fit flush to the floor tile.
