Solutions to Improve Network Switch Cooling

Preventing the Overheating of Network Switches

Network switch cooling solutions from EDP Distribution help prevent switch overheating.

Because of their placement within a server rack, usually at the top of the rear of the cabinet. Network switches are prone to overheating. Being positioned in the rear of a 19″ cabinet means that they ‘breathe’ the hot exhaust emitted from the surrounding IT equipment. Leaving openings in the front of the rack to allow cool air in is not the solution. This is poor airflow management and leads to the creation of more serious cooling issues.

EDP Distribution offer solutions that allow switches to be correctly cooled. Purpose designed units are placed in the front of the rack and surround the network switch. This allows cool air from the cold aisle to be directed to the air intakes of the network switch, usually at the rear, side or front of the switch. EDP supplies solutions from HotLok as well as our own SwitchDUCT that provides a solution for multiple switches.
