The NOYES SMLP5-5 fibre optic test kit, from AFL, combines the OPM5-2D Optical Power Meter with the OLS4 Optical Light Source that features integrated LED and Laser light sources enabling it to test both Single Mode and Multi-Mode fibre optic networks.

The OLS4 features 850/1300nm LED output from a Multi-Mode output port and 1310/1550nm Laser output from a Single Mode output port. Each wavelength may be transmitted individually at CW or with user selectable modulated tone (SM output). Each wavelength can also be transmitted with Wave ID. Wave ID saves time whilst increasing efficiency and reducing errors. It enables users to test two wavelengths at the same time reducing the test time by eliminating the need to test each wavelength separately. It automatically detects and sets received wavelengths eliminating loss measurement errors by automatically matching OPM to transmitted wavelength. Both output ports can be inspected and cleaned thanks to their UCI based removable adapters.

The OPM5-2D part of the NOYES SMLP5-5 test kit is a file management system that allows technicians to organise test results into multiple files and transfer stored result data via USB to a PC for analysing, generating reports and printing using the supplied TRM (Test Results Management) software.

Each Contractor Series Kit ships with adapter caps for all included instruments, AA alkaline batteries, user guide, and carry case with room for optional cleaning supplies (see below). Fibre mandrels (50 micron and 62.5 micron) are included with CKSM-2 and CKM-2 kits.

When purchased separately, CSM1 power meters and CSS1 light sources ship with connector adapter, AA alkaline batteries, user guide, and carry case. Fibre mandrels (50 micron and 62.5 micron) are included with CSS1-MM units.

Test jumpers are required for operation (purchased separately). Test jumpers with a variety of connector styles and fibre types and adapter caps for most common connectors may be purchased from AFL.
