 10G AOC Transceiver Cable

HUBER+SUHNER a leading manufacturer of fibre optic solutions, produce a 10G AOC cable (CSA-901A) that offers data rates up to 11.3Gb/s using SFP+ transceivers. This Active Optical Cable is available in lengths of 0.5m to 100m.

Part of their transceiver range, transceiver cables have transceivers fixed to a cable whereas a “normal” transceiver requires a separate fibre connection using fibre patch cords or jumper cables.

AOC cables utilise Multi Mode fibre cable that is thinner than the copper cable used in DAC (Direct Attach Cable) transceiver cables, which while more cost effective are only suitable for short distances. They are also heavier and require more space due to the thickness of the cable. Because AOC cables use fibre cable they are much lighter and more compact. They also have a longer reach and can handle higher data rates.
