Fibre and Copper Cable Testers

Fibre and copper cable testers are used to test and certify networks to identify faults and check that the network infrastructure cabling be it copper cable or fibre optic cable is giving optimum performance.

Many networking bids and Requests For Quote (RFQ) are citing cabling standards to a specific set of guidelines that the network installer must follow. Adherence to such standards is meant to ensure the quality of the installation and that the performance of the network will meet the requirement for which it was designed. In order to achieve this network installers must test and certify the network through the use of fibre and copper cable testers depending on the type of networking cable installed. High quality fibre and copper cable testers are able to test the network cabling including patch leads, identify any issues and store data that can be used to produce reports for certification.

EDP Europe offers a range of fibre and copper cable testers from leading manufacturers AFL, Softing (formerly Psiber) and OWL. The range includes the popular WireXpert 4500 cable certifier that is able to certify the highest performance cabling systems including Class FA and CAT8 copper cabling networks, the FiberXpert OTDR 5000 fibre tester is specifically designed for testing fibre optic networks. Cable testers are available for testing coax cable and telephone cable along with Visual Fault Locators (VFL) for locating breaks and micro-bends in fibre optic cables.
